An error occurs if you select more than 20 records for a CRM Report

Hi folks,

we have noticed that there is an error when selecting more than 20 records fo a CRM report. This was true for our own and for CRM standard reports.

The error message is the following:

The SELECT permission was denied on the object ‘fn_GetGuidsFromString’, database ‘MicrosoftCRM_MSCRM’, schema ‘dbo’.

A Microsoft Support professional has recommended the following steps, which have fixed the issue.

First Step:

  • Go to the SQL server
  • Select the CRM database
  • Go to Security, User and select the properties of the Reporting Group
  • Then select the area securables
  • Select the function fn_GetGuidsFromString and check the rights in the window below. The Select permission must set to Grant.
  • After setting the right click OK

Second Step:

  • Go to Security, User and select the properties of the CRM Reader Role
  • Then select the area securables
  • Select the function fn_GetGuidsFromString and check the rights in the window below. The Select permission must set to Grant.
  • After setting the right click OK

Maybe a fix comes with RP 8.

Thanks to my team for this information.

Regards

Markus

We have had the same issue – and were glad – and could confirm – that the proposed solution (just plain install UR 8) has fixed our problem. Good work, guys.
